The Nike Dunk Low Pro SB - Guns N Roses (Appetite for Destruction) are part of the Nike Skateboarding (Nike SB) 03 / 2008 March line up. The overall theme of the shoes is inspired by the album cover of Guns N Roses’ debut album “Appetite for Destruction” which reached No. 1 on the United States Billboard 200 and sold 27 million copies worldwide. Incidentally, “Appetite for Destruction” was released in the same year as the Nintendo video game ?Skate or Die? [Nike Dunk Low Pro SB - Skate or Die (Black / Neon Yellow)] giving us the implication of Nike’s tribute to the American scene in 1987. This Nike Dunk Low Pro SB release features an anthracite / deep violet color-way with a red sole sitting on a black midsole, a vibrant violet Nike Swoosh, the use of leather, suede and a bright gradient patent leather makeup.

The Air Jordan 20 (XX)

The Air Jordan 20 (XX)  was released in 2005. “Welcome to the future”, was one of the leading slogans in the advertising campaign for Air Jordan 20 (XX). Laser etched lace covers and the brand new I.P.S. (Independent Podular Suspension) technology made up for this somewhat bold marketing.

Tinker’s back
Tinker Hatfield returned to the driver seat when it came to the design of the Air Jordan 20 (XX). Finding inspiration from cycling shoes and motorcycle tires he created a shoe that celebrated the 20 year history of Air Jordan’s. On the heel you would find the figures 85 and 05 embedded in the mesh and the lace covers were laser etched with a massive amount of symbols representing different stages in MJ’s and AJ’s life.

I.P.S.
I.P.S. (Independent Podular Suspension) was a brand new suspension technology developed for the Air Jordan 20 (XX). A solution where individual pods supported the foot in key areas - yep, pretty similar to the Shox.

The full specs
Here’s what Jordan Brand had to say about the Air Jordan 20 (XX):
“Celebrate the past and anticipate the future with the Air Jordan XX basketball shoe. Full-grain leather and nubuck upper with detailed laser etching to celebrate the history of Air Jordan footwear. The Nike Dunk High Pro SB - Motley Crue (Dr. FeelGood)

The Nike Dunk High Pro SB - Motley Crue (Dr. FeelGood) are another musician inspired Nike Dunk SB. These were designed after the album cover of Motley Crue’s 5th album, Dr. FeelGood. The upper features different shades of green, as well as red accents, and strongly resembles the album cover artwork. The reptile print on the toe box and ankle area definitely catch your attention, but little details, such as the white contrast stitching on the red Nike swoosh, are what really make this shoe special. The white midsole tends to balance out the shoe, as we have already seen plenty of green on the upper, and the red outsole is a really nice touch

Nike Air Max 97

Rumor has it that this shoe was originally going to be called the Air Total Max 3. This ultra modern-looking Air Max was inspired by the high-speed Japanese Bullet train.
The sleek liner design and metallic silver colourway were striking. The full-length visible Air Unit displayed Nike’s Air Technology, and the three reflective lines on the top part of the shoe provided a space-age ‘glow’, especially in the dark.

The 97 was particularly popular in Europe. The original men’s colourway has been reissued several times over the years. In 2001, a slip-on version was produced but was frowned upon by the Air Max 97 purists. The coolest colourway was the black / neon yellow / metallic silver, which was released in Japan in 1997.

Air Jordan Spizike

The Air Jordan Spizike was made to show appreciation to Mars Blackmon aka Spike Lee. Spike’s part in the rising of the Air Jordan was very crucial. A lot of people may remember the funny commercials Spike Lee’s alias Mars Blackmon from the movie She’s Gotta Have it.

Initially nicknamed the “retro Frankenstein”?, the Air Jordan Spizikes (Spiz’ikes) had as many haters as lovers initially and probably a few more. Many anticipated that this was going to be a bust, but when word got out that the first colorway of the Air Jordan Spizikes would only be available along I-95 (as per Spike Lee’s request), the hype for these shoes boomed!

Initially, the Air Jordan Spizikes were going to be released in only the first two colorways, but after the more than warm reception to the first colorway, Jordan Brand fast tracked 5 new colorways including one that is themed after another hot Spike Lee joint, “Do The Right Thing“.?

The Air Jordan Spizikes take pieces from the following shoes:

Air Jordan 3 (III) - sole, midsole, and Spike?/elephant print
Air Jordan 4 (IV) - wings on the sides of the shoes that hold lace loops
Air Jordan 5 (V) - main silhouette of the shoes as well as netting on the side
Air Jordan 6 (VI) - tongue of shoes and lace locks
Air Jordan 9 (IX) - back tab
